Residential Recycling Guidelines

Aluminum & Metal CansMetal food & beverage cans, empty, clean & dry foil containersRinse cans & acceptable containers. Crush if space is needed.Aluminum siding, toys, lawn furniture, clothes hangers, scrap metals, cans with food or grease, paint cans, aerosol cans.
Plastics #1, #2, & #5Plastic bottles, milk & water jugs, liquid detergent, bleach, & softener bottles.Rinse, remove & discard lids in garbage. Crush bottles if space is needed. If container is greasy, wipe out with soapy water & rinse. **Styrofoam, cooking or motor oil, window cleaner, antifreeze, pump or spray bottles, polystyrene, toys, pesticide/herbicide bottles.
Newsprint & Other Papers**Newspapers, office & computer papers, junk mail, paper bags.Place newsprint in a paper grocery bag or bundle and tie. Place on top of recyclables inside bin. **Gift wrapping paper of any kind.
If cart is full do not place newspapers outside of cart on wet days.
Cardboard**Clean, corrugated cardboard, cereal, shoe & tissue boxes.Please flatten boxes. Place on top of recyclables inside bin. **Pizza boxes, waxed papers, hardback books, juice boxes, cardboard milk containers, take out food containers.

Plastic bags WILL NOT be collected.

**If you must put newspaper, cardboard or other paper materials out in bad weather, place on top of recyclables in bin and close lid tightly to keep dry.

RECYCLING REMINDERS

  1. Set out prescribed container the night before your scheduled day. Place within 5-ft of curb or roadside.
  2. Wet paper materials will not be collected. Place in trash the following week.
  3. Recyclables that are mixed with garbage will not ne collected. Place in trash the following week.
