Grove City Borough Water Customers

 The Borough of Grove City will flush hydrants throughout the Borough in accordance with the following schedule

June 10^th                      Ward 1

June 11^th                            Ward 2

June 12^th                       Ward 3

June 13^th                      Ward 4

June 14^th                       Ward 5

 Flushing will begin at 10:00 p.m. and will end at approximately 7:00 a.m.  Following flushing, discolored water may be present.  Customers should run their water for several minutes to clear their lines.

 Grove City Police Department is accepting applications for the position of part-time crossing guard. Two positions are currently open for guards which include a morning and afternoon assignment for each position. Applications and job description can be picked up at the Grove City Borough office, 123 West Main Street. The position pays $25.00 per day.  Completed applications are to be returned to the Grove City Borough Office, PO Box 110, Grove City PA  16127-0110.

On February 18, 2012 the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers presented an Award of Merit to the Grove City Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project.  This prestigious award is given to a local project worthy of recognition.

The project was chosen for this award for the advances made in rehabilitation of the 3.0 million gallons per day treatment plant that provides sewage services to Grove City Borough, Pine, Springfield and Liberty Townships in Mercer County and Harrisville Borough in Butler County.

The plant was built in 1933 and has undergone several upgrades and improvement projects to replace aged equipment and to meet changing regulatory requirements.  In 2005 it was decided that an extensive capital improvements project was required.  Gannett Fleming, Inc. of Pittsburgh was selected to provide engineering services during the design, bid and construction phases of the project, with construction beginning in 2009 on the 2-year, $12.1 million project.

Improvements included construction of a new headworks facility, an additional 1 million gallon holding pond, replacement of interunit pumps, elimination of chlorine disinfection with the installation of an ultraviolet disinfection facility and a complete rehabilitation of the sludge digestion process.  Completion of this project, and elimination of chlorine disinfection, has reduced chemical costs, confined space entry requirements and the risk of catastrophic events due to leakage or vandalism.

In April through September, lawn debris will be picked up according to the following schedule:

If your trash pick up day is Monday, lawn debris will be picked up on the 2^nd Friday of each month.  The first pickup will be Friday, April 13.

If your trash pick up day is Thursday, lawn debris will be picked up on the 4^th Friday of each month.  (Not always the last Friday).  April’s pick up will be on Friday, April 27.

Debris is to be placed at curb and must be in open containers.  Brush must be stacked in one direction.  Grass clippings are NOT permitted.  LOOSE LEAVES WILL NOT BE PICKED UP, THEY MUST BE IN CONTAINERS!
